Marine Wildlife Field Monitor, Galveston
Hourly, on-site, Galveston and Bolivar area. You must live within commuting distance of Galveston to be considered.
Zara Environmental LLC is hiring Field Monitors to support construction monitoring on the Texas coast near Galveston. This is in-person, on-site observation of marine wildlife during active construction so the project stays in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, including the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
Field Monitors conduct visual surveys for marine mammals, sea turtles, and other protected species; document observations; call avoidance or shutdown protocols when required; and keep accurate field logs and monitoring equipment in working order. The work happens in a dynamic coastal environment and can mean long hours outdoors in whatever weather the Gulf is serving up that day.
This is not a remote or hybrid position. Monitors must be on site during assigned construction activities and stay in daily contact with the project team by email and phone to report observations, coordinate coverage, and relay compliance issues. Hours follow the construction schedule, so some weeks will be full time and others part time.
This position is a good fit for someone interested in marine biology, environmental science, or wildlife conservation who wants hands-on field experience in a complex coastal construction setting.
